Llamas and Clover

Post  JML on Tue Aug 02, 2011 7:59 pm

Do llamas like clover or is not good for them? I have a patch of grass they will not touch at all and the only difference is the coverage of clover in this area.

Fussy eaters

Post  S.Smith on Mon Aug 22, 2011 7:36 am

Some of our guys do eat it, not sure if is good for them. Of course llamas being llamas, when I take them for a walk on our lawn they're not that fussed even though there is lots of nice juicy clover (which our pigs just love!) Where they do eat it is where there are a few clumps growing in a stoned area by their stables; there they seem to quite enjoy that.

Generally, our guys generally prefer the rough stuff over nice juicy grass. They hay we got last year was a lot coarser and has some much bigger bits in it than normal; they much preferred this to the nice meadow hay we had the year before. I guess this may be in there genes where they would have to work hard to find their food and make good use of less nutritional food?
